1st round vs Baltimore Kickers

MRFC dominated this match from start to finish.  This is because the ownership has stepped up and really wants this club to succeed this year.  With the club training now and bringing in some quality players who fit the system MRFC demonstrated rather easily against a weaker side.  2-nil doesn't reflect the match. 70-30 in possession with the kickers having 2 shots on frame to MRFC 11.  Joel generaled the midfield and Luis and Vince performed their duties to perfection.  1-2 touch football was the recipe and it worked.  Vince found Carlos up top who one timed it to Joel who found Luis 25 yards out Carlos made a thru run and miss hit Luis' cross while in the air but it dropped nicely to Winje who blasted into the net.  Carlos hurt hisself on that play and the speedster Larry came in.  Second half and MRFC found their shape again with Jerome leading the attack.  He found Larry into space and Larry took 4 defenders on but could not finish.  Our defense was stout and Taylor when he did get tested proved worthy.  They were getting tired by MRFC pressure and their keeper blundered a pass to Larry who pushed it past him with ease.  The Training is showing as the side looked pretty fit. 2-nil not a bad result however the club has many areas too k work on.

Quarter Finals vs Cristos FC

MRFC has really been training hard and it showed in this match.  Still steaming from the loss to the Bays the week before, MRFC took it to Christos from the jump.  With Seamus and Asa back in the lineup and Taylor in the net the center of the defense was set.  Larry who is a key forward and David the starting left back were both out.  Eduardo and Chris filled in and were key players in the match.  MRFC had most of the possession as usual and created numerous chances.  Vince, Luis and Joel held the middle while Carlos, Junior and Eduardo pressed the attack.  Most of the attack came from 30 yard diagonal balls to the flanks.  It worked and created chances in the box.  Eduardo and Vince both had chances but could not finish.  Joel had some long range shots that were off the mark.  Vince had the ball out wide and danced around the ball then megged the defender the ball came to Carlos who one timed it to Eduardo who ran into the space his shot was over.  Winje came in for Junior and made an immediate impact. With simple onetouch passing the ball found Winje on the right flank he took a player on and crossed to Vince who's initial shot was blocked came back to him and he walked it in the net.  5 minutes later the ball was sent to Carlos who one timed it to Winje who one timed it to Vince 25 yrds out who then side stepped a defender and lobbed Carlos a thru ball. Carlos ran onto it and the keeper was in no man's land and that's where Los left him as he calmly chipped him from 15 out. 2-nil.  2nd half even more pressure as we made them make many mistakes in their backline.  Our fitness and skill outclassed them with ease as they had no answer for our attacks.  Chris caught a knock so Carlos went to left back Mikael came in to play up top.  We smothered them so much that with 20 minutes left their keeper was left hanging and Eduardo swarmed him and got the ball from him and found Winje wide open at the 6 and he finished them off.  Taylor was forced into action late in the match and came up huge making 3 quality saves to keep his clean sheet intact.  Debut for Valerie Taku from Cameron was solid and Dannish came off the bench and really impressed.
